I have had our GE refrigerator for 7 years. I change the water filter when change is on or if it reduces the water flow. You can cheat a little and turn on the water bills light to use the filter longer, but eventually you'll see the difference in water quality / flow. Be sure to change it then.
I hate the city water. Usually it is the taste that makes me. We had good water for 25 years and fresh taste (the absence of chemicals) has always been appreciated. To move into that area, we have treated city water, which I could not comfortably drink. Fortunately, GE refrigerator this filter installed. We get all our drinks and coffee water from the fridge dispenser. Make a world of difference. This filter is manufacturer's spec and work well. Never a taste of chemicals (if I do not cheat for a long time for change time). This was my first purchase through Amazon (2) and they are identical to other sellers and the price is better.
Recommend this filter to provide the highest quality drinking water.
